In 1984, I graduated with a SPED degree from UNO - University of New Orleans.  Going onto get my Master's degree, I started off studying overseas for the summer.  In 1989, I graduated with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction.

From January 1985, I taught at a magnet school in New Orleans, LA, until I resigned to stay at home with my first born child in May of 1991.  It was an amazing experience as a new teacher to be at such a prestigious school.  I then had a couple of seasons of life that I worked as a substitute teacher until I started back in the classroom full time in the 2015/2016 school year.

Born and raised in New Orleans, I called it home for much of my life.  My husband and I married in 1989, then moved to Iowa in the summer of 1991 for my husband to pastor a church that we helped start the summer before.  While there, we had two more children and were quite happy raising our children in small town USA.  In 1999, we felt called to Guinea, West Africa.  We lived in three places over the next 14 years - a crossroads city, out in a village in the bush of Africa, and then the capital city.  In 2013, we came home to the states to put our youngest child in college.  My sweet daddy was ailing, so we brought him to live with us here in Humboldt.  After 4 years with us, he passed away at the honored age of 97 in the Fall of 2017.  Even though we originally thought we would go back overseas, we have put down roots here and are pleased to call Humboldt home.
